Will Our Nation's Community Hospitals Have Access To Capital In The Future?

A Special Series of Interviews on Hospitals' Projected Access to Capital...

We have, as an editorial policy, taken a strong interest in our nation's community hospitals' access to capital given projected needs.   These features are part of an ongoing series of articles and audio interviews relating to hospitals' access to capital.

During 2003 and 2004 a collaboration of organizations--the Healthcare Financial Management Association,
GE Healthcare Financial Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP--launched a year-long series of
studies called "Financing the Future" which resulted in a series of six reports, all of which are now available.
These studies involved, among other things, much original research never previously attempted.
.

James Unland, Editor of the Journal of Health Care Finance, recently had the opportunity to interview
Richard L. Clarke, President and CEO of the HFMA, and Randy Fuller, Hospital Segment Manager for
GE Healthcare Financial Services and Sandy Lutz, National Director for Health Care Research at
PricewaterhouseCoopers concerning the background of these groundbreaking reports and some of the key findings.
